Eligibility Requirements For AKSU Postgraduate Admission Form 2025/2026

All interested candidates are expected to meet the requirements listed below to be qualified for postgraduate admission at Akwa Ibom State University (AKSU).

General Requirements

• All aspiring students must have a Bachelor’s degree in the relevant field from a recognized institution, with at least a second-class lower division.
• Candidates must present an NYSC discharge certificate or exemption letter.
• At least five (5) credit passes in O’Level subjects, including English Language and Mathematics, in not more than two sittings is required.

Specific Requirements for Different Postgraduate Programs

Postgraduate Diploma (PGD)

• A first degree in a related field from a recognized institution or Higher National Diploma (HND) with a minimum of Lower Credit.

Master of Science (M.Sc)

• A Bachelor’s degree with at least a Second-Class Lower division in the relevant field.
• Candidates with Third-Class degrees and a relevant postgraduate diploma may also be considered.

Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D)

• A Master’s degree with a CGPA of at least 3.5 in the relevant field.
• Evidence of research experience and a well-defined research proposal are required.
• A research proposal must be submitted during the application process.
• Candidates must ensure they meet the admission requirements and deadlines as published by AKSU.

How to Apply for Akwa Ibom State University Postgraduate Admission 2025/2026

The application process for postgraduate studies at Aksu University (Aksu) is entirely online. To apply, you will need to follow these steps:

• Visit the Aksu postgraduate portal at http://www.aksu.edu.ng/pg.
• Click the “Start Now” button.
• On the next page, select “ENROL” and then “Postgraduate” to proceed with your postgraduate application.
• You will be required to enter a valid phone number. On the subsequent page, enter the last six digits of the phone number you provided in the previous step for verification purposes.
• Next, enter your basic details, including your surname, first name, other names (if applicable), date of birth, gender, and marital status.
• To initiate the application process, you will need to pay a non-refundable application fee of N20,000 (twenty thousand Naira) excluding any bank charges.
• The portal will provide a card payment option. You can use your debit card to securely pay the application fee.
• Once your application fee payment is successful, you will be able to access the online registration form.
• Carefully fill out the registration form, providing all the required information.
• Scan the required documents and upload them.
• Click the “SUBMIT” button to submit your application.
• After successful submission, print the Registration Confirmation slip as proof of your application. It is important to retain this document for your records.

The following documents are mandatory for your application and must be scanned and uploaded to the portal:-

• Senior School Certificate (SSC) or its equivalent.
• Degree certificate (e.g., Bachelor’s degree, Higher National Diploma [HND], or Ordinary National Diploma (OND).
• Postgraduate Diploma (PGD) or Postgraduate Diploma in Education (PGDE) certificate (only required for Master of Science M.sc applicants).
• Master’s degree certificate (e.g., MSc, Master of Arts, Master of Education, or Master of Business Administration)
• National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) discharge certificate, exemption certificate, or exclusion certificate.
• Birth certificate.
• Certificate of Origin.

All applicants applying for postgraduate admission at Akwa Ibom State University (AKSU) must take note of these:-

• Submit your completed application form along with a comprehensive thesis or dissertation proposal. This proposal must be prepared on the official School of Postgraduate Studies Proposal Sheet and include the – Title of the proposed research, Research Aims, and Objectives, Significance and Relevance of the Study, Research Methodology, Expected Outcomes, and Ensure your proposal addresses these key elements.
